Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Optical Network Engineer with expertise in OTN, DWDM, and ROADM technologies to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong testing and troubleshooting skills in optical transport technologies and extensive experience working with Network Management Systems (NMS).You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of the optical transport infrastructure while providing technical support for installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of optical networks.
Key Responsibilities:
Optical Network Testing: Perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of optical transport equipment, including OTN, DWDM, and ROADM technologies.
System Integration: Work with multi-vendor optical network systems to ensure seamless integration and operation across OTN and DWDM platforms.
Network Design &; Implementation: Assist in the design, implementation, and optimization of optical networks, ensuring robust and scalable deployments.Test Plan Development: Create detailed test plans for new equipment and network technologies, ensuring proper validation of system performance and resilience.
DWDM/ROADM Configuration: Perform configurations and testing of DWDM systems, working with wavelength provisioning, channel assignments, and optical signal performance monitoring.
OTN Layer Operations: Test and troubleshoot OTN layers, including multiplexing, switching, and protection schemes for high-bandwidth services.Monitoring and NMS Management: Utilize NMS platforms to monitor network performance, identify issues, and conduct root-cause analysis for network problems.
ROADM Operations: Perform add/drop configurations and support dynamic reconfiguration of optical paths across the network using ROADM.
Equipment Handling: Test and handle optical components such as transponders, amplifiers, multiplexers, demultiplexers, and ROADMs.
Documentation &; Reporting: Maintain accurate records of testing results, configurations, and issues, ensuring comprehensive reporting of network performance and operational status.
Key Skills and Experience:
Optical Network Expertise: Strong understanding of OTN, DWDM, and ROADM technologies and their application in modern optical networks.Experience with Optical Testing Tools: Familiarity with optical power meters, spectrum analyzers, OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), and other fiber optic testing tools.
NMS Experience: Proficient in using NMS tools for managing optical networks, such as Ciena OneControl, Nokia NFM-T, or similar.
Strong Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in OTN, DWDM, and ROADM-based networks.
Network Protocols: Knowledge of key optical network protocols and technologies such as SONET/SDH, Ethernet, MPLS, etc.
Vendor Equipment Experience: Experience with equipment from leading optical vendors like Ciena, Infinera, Huawei, Cisco, or others.
Understanding of Layered Architectures: Strong understanding of transport layers (OTN, WDM) and their interaction with data layers (Ethernet/IP).
