Oracle Database Administrator

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Oracle Database Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (versions 11g, 12c, 19c).
• Perform database backups, restores, and recovery.
• Implement and manage Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) for high availability.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations. Conduct database patching and upgrades to maintain security and performance.
• Manage users, roles, and privileges to ensure proper access control.

PostgreSQL Database Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and availability of PostgreSQL databases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve PostgreSQL database performance issues.
• Implement replication, clustering, and high availability solutions in PostgreSQL.
• Manage PostgreSQL backups, restores, and disaster recovery strategies.

Performance Tuning & Optimization:

• Monitor and tune the performance of both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, recommend improvements.
• Implement indexing, partitioning, and other optimization techniques.

Collaboration & Support:

• Provide 24/7 on-call support for database-related issues.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot database issues.
• Prepare and execute database migration and upgrade plans.
• Provide guidance on best practices for database usage and optimization.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 6+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA with a strong focus on database support, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL database administration and optimization.
• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and other relevant scripting languages for database management.
• Familiarity with database high availability solutions like RAC for Oracle and replication for PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
• Understanding of database security practices and user management.
• Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, pgAdmin, etc.).
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure RDS, etc.).
• Experience with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server).
• Knowledge of database automation tools Certifications such as OCP and Postgress
