Job Description
- Category Strategy Development: Implement the procurement strategy for the Transportation category, aligned with overall business objectives. Analyze market trends, evaluate supplier capabilities, and identify opportunities for cost savings, service improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation service providers, carriers, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners. Negotiate contracts, manage vendor performance, and conduct regular business reviews to ensure optimal service levels, cost competitiveness, and compliance with contractual agreements.
- Sourcing and Vendor Selection: Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including conducting RFIs/RFPs, evaluating proposals, and selecting suitable transportation suppliers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, evaluate supplier capabilities, and negotiate pricing and service terms to achieve the best value for the organization.
- Contract Management: Develop and manage contracts and agreements with transportation suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, clear performance expectations, and adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements. Monitor contract performance, manage renewals and modifications, and address any disputes or issues that arise.
- Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in transportation operations. Analyze freight rates, shipping methods, and transportation routes to optimize costs while maintaining service quality. Implement strategies such as consolidation, mode shifting, and optimization of carrier networks.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with transportation operations, such as capacity constraints, service disruptions, and regulatory compliance. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize supply chain disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track transportation service levels, cost savings, supplier performance, and compliance. Generate regular reports and dashboards to provide visibility to stakeholders and drive data-based decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in transportation logistics. Lead process improvement initiatives, leverage data analytics, and implement innovative solutions to optimize transportation operations and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
