Job Title: Mechanical Design Manager Transformer Industry

Location :Atlas Transformers India ltd

• Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
• Oversee project timelines, ensuring that mechanical design tasks are completed on schedule.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design team members.
• Lead the design and development of mechanical components of transformers, including tank designs, bushings, radiators, cooling systems, and structural frames.
• Oversee the development of detailed drawings, specifications, and 3D models using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Ensure designs are efficient, cost-effective, and comply with relevant international standards and customer specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement in the design process to enhance performance, reduce cost, and improve manufacturability and serviceability.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to introduce innovative design solutions for better transformer efficiency, durability, and functionality.
• Work closely with electrical engineers, quality control, manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of the mechanical design with the electrical components.
• Communicate design changes and updates effectively across departments.
• Oversee the selection of materials that meet design and cost requirements while considering performance and environmental impact.
• Provide cost estimates for mechanical components and ensure designs adhere to budget constraints.
• Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards (such as IEC, ANSI, IEEE) and local regulations.
• Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other necessary calculations to validate the designs.
• Oversee the creation and testing of prototypes, reviewing test results and ensuring designs meet performance criteria.
• Address any issues or modifications identified during the prototype testing phase.
• Maintain clear documentation of design processes, changes, and testing outcomes.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, challenges, and risks.
• Identify potential risks in the mechanical design phase, such as mechanical failure or design flaws, and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
• Ensure all safety considerations are incorporated into the design process.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, thermal management, and materials science.
• Experience in stress analysis, vibration analysis, and mechanical testing.
• Knowledge of transformer design standards and regulations.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
