Job Description
Database and system administration, security and networking- Expert level MS SQL Management Studio, T-SQL queries
- MongoDB database-design (e.g. aggregations)
- Studio 3T
- AWS CLI
- Strong knowledge of database design, development, and management principles
- Solid understanding of database security, backup, and recovery strategies
- Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and database troubleshooting. Cloud technologies
- Strong experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS
- Familiarity with cloud database services, especially AWS RDS and Atlas
- Monitoring of AWS costs. Additional skills (nice to have)
Terraform experience
Airflow experience
Python experience
Powershell experience
Strong knowledge of database design, development, and management principles.
Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and database troubleshooting. Solid understanding of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, MongoDB Certified DBA) are a plus
Key Accountabilities
The key accountability of a Senior DB Administrator is to support the maintenance, configuration, monitoring and optimization of cloud and non-cloud databases.
Maintenance of development and production databases.
Maintanance and continuous improvement of disaster recovery/backup strategy.
Functional monitoring of production database in AWS.
Performance monitoring and optimization.
Work closely with development teams to provide database expertise and guidance on application architecture. Able to bring their knowledge and experience to bear to influence overall architectural decisions and selection of cloud technologies.
Oversee the configuration and administration of MS SQL Server databases hosted onpremises or in AWS RDS.
Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
Implement right-sizing techniques for AWS RDS instances, balancing cost and performance- Monitor and fine-tune AWS RDS databases and MongoDB (Atlas) for efficient operation, including storage, IOPS, and network usage
- Ensure compliance with company standards, including data governance and security policies
Provide mentorship to team members and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing.
Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
