P2P & Wireless Backup network PlannerResponsibilities:
Needs Assessment: Conduct a thorough assessment of existing fiber optic infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities and single points of failure.
Microwave Link Design: Design resilient point-to-point (P2P) microwave links to provide redundant connectivity between key locations, including offshore platforms, onshore processing facilities, and control centers.Frequency Planning & Coordination: Develop a comprehensive frequency plan, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and minimizing interference. Coordinate with relevant authorities to secure necessary licenses.
Capacity Planning: Determine bandwidth requirements for various applications (SCADA, voice, video, data) and design the microwave network to accommodate current and future needs.
Equipment Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate microwave equipment (radios, antennas, modems, etc.) based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Network Optimization: Utilize network planning tools to optimize link performance, minimize latency, and maximize throughput.Security Considerations: Incorporate robust security measures into the network design to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
Documentation: Produce detailed network diagrams, link budgets, equipment specifications, and other documentation required for implementation and maintenance.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery and installation of equipment.
Testing & Commissioning: Oversee the testing and commissioning of the microwave network to ensure it meets performance requirements.
Training & Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and guidance to operations and maintenance teams on the new microwave backup system.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Telecommunications Engineering.
10+ years of experience in RF design for industrial applications.In-depth knowledge of microwave transmission technologies (e.g., licensed and unlicensed bands, modulation techniques, error correction).
Expertise in network planning tools (e.g., Pathloss, Radio Mobile).
Understanding of IP networking principles and protocols.
Familiarity with network security best practices.
Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols is a plus.
Proficiency in tools like Pathloss, Atoll, ArcGIS
Knowledge of spectrum allocation and licensing for Private Network & microwave
Experience with redundancy and failover design for critical communication systems.
