Our Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Staff Systems Engineer to lead systems definition and integration activities in collaboration with engineers, scientists, and business professionals to develop new instruments, applications, and reagents for the Chemical Analysis Division.As a member of multi-functional project teams, together we will develop and deliver instrument and consumable platforms from feasibility through on-market customer care. This role will experience products from many fields, such as X-ray, LIBS, FTIR, Raman, Gas Analyzers and Web Gauging Systems, etc.
A Day In The Life- Partner with technical leads in Mechanical, Electrical and Software teams to optimize system architecture and integration to deliver products that meets or exceeds the needs of and delight our customers.
- Makes data-driven decision making by crafting multifactorial experiments, collect and analyze data, communicating and discussing results.
- Balances requirements with system capabilities and communicates effectively to key partners in the development process.
- Resolves disputes through meticulous data analysis
Keys to Success
Education- MS/PhD in an Engineering, Bioengineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
- Proven track record in instrumentation, consumables, and assays in an R&D setting, preferably in analytical instruments.
- Proven success leading technical development and working in a multi-functional, global matrixed environment.
- Delivering successful products with a detailed understanding of quality systems.
- Cultivates collaborative relationships and builds credibility across functions and teams.
- Ability to facilitate design of experiment (DOE), root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).
- Strong hands-on ability working with life science hardware systems, including optical, fluidic, mechanical, and pneumatic subsystems, fixing and optimization of system level performance.
- Familiar with data acquisition and analysis tools.
- Balances multiple engineering needs to come up with a proven solution.
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and balance multiple projects and priorities.
- Mentors other systems engineers or builds capabilities for systems engineering.
- Develops platforms and considers modularity for system design
- Considers other factors like Design for Excellence as part of system design
- May also consider cost factors in design and development
- Leads from the front when there are issues and develops solutions
