The Retail Cloud Application Engineering team is focused on maximizing service availability for our retail product service offerings and on maintaining the service across global Oracle data centers.
We are looking to add new members to this dynamic team and are seeking subject matter experts for designing and continuously improving reliability for Oracle Database components within current our solution portfolio, while aiding the move to Cloud Native / Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
About The Job
As part of the Retail Cloud Application Engineering team, you will be continually challenged and directly contribute to the success of our Retail Cloud service offerings, every day, working closely with Product Development Partners, Infrastructure partners and Site Reliability Engineering.
As a Database Administrator in the Retail Cloud Application Engineering, you will solve interesting technical challenges by troubleshooting key Oracle Cloud services, platforms, and infrastructure. Utilize your RDBMS expertise in areas such operational readiness, best practices adoption, continuous improvement of RDBMS reliability & performance, high availability, Critical production troubleshooting etc.
Career Level - IC3
You will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
- Manage database reliability and performance aspects for retail product service offerings.
- Participate in migration of solutions and services from competitor cloud solutions to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
- Analyze, document solutions and implement best practices for our retail product service offerings Oracle database solutions.
- Work on observability of relevant database metrics and ensure we have excellent insight to how our application is performing.
- Work with peers to roll out changes to our production environment and help mitigate database-related production incidents.
- Provide database expertise to engineering teams (for example through reviews of database migrations, queries and performance optimizations).
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hand on experience in administering Enterprise High Availability, multi-tenant Oracle RAC RDBMS environments.
- Expert knowledge into daily administration activities
- Experience with Datapump Export/Import, Database migration/cloning, RMAN, Data Guard replication, Golden Gate replication/ GG HUB, ODI, backup/restore, tuning, SQL profiling upgrades, capacity planning and access control.
- Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database
- Deep understanding and experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Engineered Systems Platform is a must.
- Ability to provide senior-level technical support on solving complex issues requiring rapid resolution related to Oracle RDBMS/NoSQL/ATP/ADW/ADB solutions.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools and practices, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Knowledge and experience of Monitoring and Observability pipeline and Observability enabling tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, ELK, Datadog etc)
- Ability and experience mapping stakeholder needs into functional requirements.
- Strong ability to anticipate emergence at scale in complex systems.
- Experience with automation/configuration management using either Terraform/Puppet/Chef or an equivalent
- Methodical approach to troubleshooting complex problems
- Defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products
- Most importantly, the aptitude to be a good team player and the willingness to learn and implement new Cloud technologies
