Director of Sourcing

Role Summary:

URBN is looking for a Director of Sourcing - reporting to the management team in URBN Home Office in Philadelphia, this India-based position will lead the efforts of localized sourcing and manufacturing, capitalizing on in-region expertise to support global expansion and speed-to-customer initiatives.

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the development of a dynamic manufacturing and operational strategy which anticipates the needs of both URBN and the localized supply chain. Strategy should align with URBN initiatives around design and vendor-initiated designs, innovative product, speed, cost reduction, quality, risk mitigation, supplier continuity, and utilization of emerging markets/opportunities.
• Understand supplier capabilities and advantages, as well as opportunities for improvement. Ensure action plans are created and implemented to further align and maximize opportunity between URBN and suppliers. Maintain positive, productive relationships with URBN suppliers.
• Oversee garment sourcing and development in-country for designated categories. Responsible to lead cost engineering in accordance with business requirements provided by the Brands, streamline in region decision making and approvals in keeping with URBN brands’ standards for aesthetic and quality,
• Oversee the management of production time and action (T&A) for outstanding development as needed for successful on-time product delivery. Oversee the order placement process, insuring target place dates align with business strategies, and that best possible deliveries are regularly met.
• Remain up-to-date and share information around AI, innovation, speed, and quality enhancements. Train and supervise personnel to in country standards, while upholding URBN brands DNA and aesthetics. Proactively reviewing changes regularly with Home Office to support continual improvement around our India office processes and compliance.
• Provide strong leadership, management, development, and training to in region personnel. Continuously evaluate the team and align the team/process to best service the Brands.
• Build and manage the annual budget with home office management team and recommend updates, as necessary, for monthly forecasted business projections.
• Build key relationships between stakeholders to create a calendar that drives speed to market initiatives and reduces weeks of supply. Collaborate with home office partners to meet goals.
• Support human resources, technology, and logistics groups as needed.

Role Qualifications:

• A minimum of ten years of progressive sourcing experience within complex, fast pace apparel environment. Specialty retail and/or direct to consumer experience is preferred.
• A successful track record of building relationships with cross functional partners and offering new and innovative solutions to sourcing issues/challenges.
• Experience developing and leveraging strategic business relationships with vendors/suppliers.
• Process improvement capabilities including proven examples of implementing operational efficiencies.
• Works with a high sense of integrity and urgency and is motivated by deadlines and new challenges.
• Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in both English and local language.
• Extensive knowledge of in region product development and sourcing across apparel, accessories, and home.
• Major in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
