Job Description: Commercial Manager - IT
Location: Navi Mumbai, India

Department: Procurement

Candidate Profile: Candidate will have extensive experience of working within an IT purchasing environment within a reseller, distributor or end user environment. The candidate should also have category management experience in one of the following areas:

  • Indirect cost spend (facilities, telecoms, logistics, software licensing etc)
  • Hardware and maintenance spend (for customer resale)
  • Partner and sub-contractor spend

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Spend Review and Cost Reduction
  • Review all direct spend. Improve margins and reduce costs through smart buying and negotiation.
  • Review and manage all indirect business costs globally. Control spend and reduce costs against budget.
  • Drive spend control throughout the business through initiatives and contract management
  • Analyse overall spend with suppliers and leverage NSC’s global buying power to achieve economies of scale.
Deal Shaping
  • Work with sales teams to shape deal structure for complex multi-vendor kit and support RFP’s. Ensure competitiveness of bids.
  • Build close relationships with direct touch and channel account managers and leverage those relationships
  • Understand complex vendor discount programs (e.g. customer specific price support and deal registration). Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure we are taking competitive advantage of available programs and creatively utilising schemes to maximise margins
  • Provide regular multi-vendor promotion updates to sales, pre-sales and procurement. Ensure programs are utilised and that programs are easily understandable and accessible to the business.
Supplier Relationship Management
  • Lead buyers in building supply chains in various geographies. Own, manage and develop in country supplier relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with senior execs in supply base to create influence and leverage
  • Sign up suppliers to NSC standard terms and condition of supply, increase payments terms and credit facilities.
  • Review contract commercials in conjunction with the legal team.
  • Manage the supplier quarterly review process.
  • Drive the relationships with suppliers and vendors through proactive behaviour. Sell the NSC brand.
Systems, People Management and Reporting
  • Provide weekly reporting to enable decision making, spend review and management of procurement activities
  • Use weekly reporting to drive correct behaviour within the procurement team. Proactively target resolutions where needed
  • Manage escalations from internal and external customers and escalate with relevant team members for resolution
  • Proactively identify problems and take remedial steps
  • Escalate issues to Purchasing Manager where appropriate with recommendations on course of action
Knowledge and Key Skills
  • Ability to communicate confidently at senior executive level
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills and relationship building skills
  • IT purchasing experience within a reseller, distributor or end user environment.
  • Extensive supply chain management experience.
  • Fluent in English and preferably one other common global business language
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent including Maths and English, CIPS qualification desirable
  • Creative thinker with the ability to work off own initiative
  • Self-motivated and highly organised with ability to prioritise
  • Ability to multitask and work within a high pressure , targeted environment
