[ref. x97625924] Team Lead - Real Estate

The team lead will be responsible for a) underwriting, analyzing real estate investments and b) managing a team doing the same.

The team lead will play an active role in closing and asset management of the firm’s real estate investments.

We are seeking someone who understands the importance of the technical skills relative to underwriting and asset analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Support the global private real estate credit team in underwriting and executing new investments for a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. Investments include senior bridge loans, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity backed by virtually all property types.
• Create and oversee detailed and complex financial valuation and underwriting models for financing real estate investments.
• Perform and direct asset-level and market-level due diligence.
• Develop thorough understanding of a deal’s capital structure and business plan and key risks to performance.
• Understand physical characteristics of properties, and the related competitive advantages and disadvantages.
• Understand and critically evaluate the existing and potential operating characteristics of a project (Revenue/Rent Rolls, expenses, capital expenditures, tenant credit, leases).
• Identify a project’s demand drivers; gather market information through independent field work. Synthesize information and draw a conclusion on future market rent, absorption, vacancy, and liquidity in the investment market.
• Prepare term sheets and letters of intent
• Communicate conclusions into a comprehensive investment memorandum to be presented to senior management for consideration and approval. Participate in Investment Committee discussions.
• Participate in and provide support for the ongoing asset management of each investment, including major deal level decisions as well as evaluate overall portfolio risks and opportunities
• Review legal documentation in concert with team and counsel throughout the negotiation and closing process

• [Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting]
• Chartered Surveyor designation or MAI designation (a plus)
• 8 years of experience in real estate finance
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Experience creating financial models. High level of expertise in Excel; ARGUS and Power Point proficiency helpful but not required.
