What You'll Do:

We are looking for an experienced UX Writer with 5+ years of experience to join our dynamic product experience team. You will create clear, and user-focused content that enhances the user experience of our digital products. You will work with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure that our content aligns with user needs and our goals.

  • Understand your customers, gathering data and sharing information with your colleagues to improve the product experience
  • Partner with design, and support teams to develop a content strategy for your features, including what type of content customers need at each stage of their interaction with our products
  • Work with engineering and your learning team colleagues to respond to the delivery of multiple simultaneous software releases
  • Collaborate with writers for other product areas to improve efficiency through shared content and create a seamless content experience for customers.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Content Strategy and Creation:
  • Maintain a voice and tone for our digital products, ensuring understanding of Avalara's brand and user needs.
  • Create engaging, user-centered content for multiple touchpoints, including web interfaces, mobile applications, help documentation, and error messages.
  • Collaborate with UX designers and researchers to understand user pain points and craft content that improves usability and accessibility.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to understand product requirements and translate them into user-friendly content.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and improve on content based on user insights.
  • Content Management and Optimization:
  • Review and edit existing content for clarity, consistency, and effectiveness, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality.
  • Monitor content performance and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.

What You'll Need to be Successful:

You have demonstrated an ability to develop technical documentation content and processes. Be prepared to share examples and writing samples that demonstrate your qualifications during the interview process.
  • 5+ years of directly relevant technical content experience working for an enterprise software company
  • 5+ years of experience writing and editing for the web and working with Wiki markup and HTML
