Job Description:

Annapurna College of Film and Media, Hyderabad, is seeking a passionate and skilledVFX Facultyto join our esteemed Animation & Visual Effects department. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and hands-on experience in VFX techniques, particularly in areas such as Node Compositing, Keying Roto, Roto and Paint, Wire and Rig Removal and more.

As a full-time faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and guiding students through practical and theoretical VFX concepts, preparing them for careers in the dynamic field of visual effects.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach VFX Courses:

Deliver high-quality lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on training in areas such as Node Compositing, Keying Roto, Roto and Paint, Wire and Rig Removal, and other core VFX techniques.

Curriculum Development:

Collaborate in the development and enhancement of the VFX curriculum to keep pace with industry standards and emerging technologies.

Practical Workshops:

Conduct regular workshops, practical sessions, and lab-based classes to ensure students gain real-world experience and mastery of VFX tools and techniques.

Student Mentorship:

Provide individual guidance and feedback to students on their projects, ensuring they have a strong understanding of industry-standard practices and workflows.

Project Supervision:

Supervise and assist students with their final-year VFX projects, ensuring high-quality output and industry relevance.

Assessments and Grading:

Evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and exams. Provide constructive feedback to foster improvement and learning.

Stay Updated with Industry Trends:

Continuously update knowledge and skills in VFX technologies and trends, incorporating the latest tools and techniques into teaching methods.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other faculty members, the department head, and industry professionals to maintain a collaborative and innovative learning environment.

Key Requirements:

Experience:

At least 3-5 years of professional experience in the VFX industry, with significant hands-on expertise inNode Compositing, Keying Roto, Roto and Paint, Wire and Rig Removal.

Technical Skills:

Strong proficiency in industry-standard VFX software includingNuke,Adobe After Effects,Fusion, or similar compositing and visual effects tools.

In-depth Knowledge:

Extensive understanding of various VFX processes, particularly in the following areas:

  • Node-based compositing workflows
  • Green screen keying techniques
  • Rotoscoping and paint work
  • Wire and rig removal techniques
  • Clean plate creation and complex shot compositing

Teaching Experience:

Prior teaching or mentoring experience in VFX or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory. A passion for educating and mentoring students is essential.

Strong Communication Skills:

Ability to clearly explain complex concepts and provide constructive feedback in a way that is accessible to students of varying skill levels.

Team Player:

Willingness to collaborate with other faculty members and contribute to the growth of the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Animation, VFX, or a related field.
  • Experience with additional VFX-related skills such as matchmoving, 3D compositing, or simulation effects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in VFX technology and software.
