Job Description
The successful candidate will participate and oversee the design process for new and enhanced analytics applications utilizing the Enterprise Data Hub and new technology stack. They will continuously expand their knowledge by learning new systems, tools, and best practices to help build new tools to help our team automate and accelerate analytics.
Data Modeler will be responsible for defining and managing critical data structures for current and future needs. The primary responsibilities are to gather business requirements and translate them into logical data models, and to create technical design specifications including source to target mapping documentation for ETL developers.Responsibilities:
Oversee the design process for new applications, including creating data flows, diagrams, models and prototypes, evaluating risks and defects, analyzing and creating specifications as needed
Create technical documents and provide technical support and training as needed
Work closely with systems analysts, software developers, data managers and other team members to ensure successful production of analytical solutions
Offer viable solutions for various systems and architectures to resolve a variety of business requirements
Ensuring a seamless integration of new and existing systems to eliminate potential problems and maintain data structure and integrity
Participate in gathering information from customers or business leaders to meet solution needs
Collaborate with the development team to design and build the database model
Develop entity relationships (ER models) for normalized and dimensional models Assist and guide existing Data Modelers and Data ArchitectsTechnical evaluation for assignments involving existing models for legacy applications and creation of new model in support of application development
Adjust access to the data and the reports as needed
Work closely with the development team to implement data warehouse and reporting
Experience establishing and maintaining an enterprise approach to logical data modeling.
Advanced knowledge and experience in logical and physical data modeling
Experience with SQL and data access layer design
Help determine and manage data cleaning requirements
Experience in leading complex large-scale analytical solution implementation
Mandatory skills in Snowflake, SQL, ETL/ELT, Data Warehouse solutions and databases
Proven ability to structure complex analysis and perform the analysis to drive insights
Skills: Strong analytical, creative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Knowledge of relational databases and data architecture computer systems, including very strong in SQLFamiliarity with or a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information technology, or data modeling
Knowledge of ER modeling, big data, enterprise data, and physical data models
Detail-oriented team player who can consistently provide valuable suggestions and solutions in areas of analytical solutionsLeadership skills to provide knowledge to development teams in areas of application software design, development, testing and implementation
Strong verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills
Conceptual thinking to ensure all parts of an application function together as intended
Experience with modeling tools (such as ERWin and ER/Studio)
Knowledge of RDBMS platforms (e.g. SQL Server, DB2) with experience in generating DDL)
Education:
Bachelor or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
Minimum 11 to 14 years of experience with data (ETL experience) Relevant experience in Data Modelling minimum 5 years
Experience in data curation/aggregation/preparation for use in any Visualization tool (i.e. Cognos, Tableau, Power BI)
