Roles : Designer to Lead Designer (Highways BIM)

Education Details : Dip/B.tech in Civil Engineer

Responsibilities :

• Responsible to produce / review highway deliverable such as Roadway layout, Plan & profiles, Signs & Road Markings, Kerbs & footways, Pavement drawings, Setting out details, Typical Cross Sections, Standard details etc.
• Responsible to work on Highway drawings independently and able to guide junior staff on Highway drawings and models.
• Responsible to check the drawings produced by the Junior staffs within the team.
• Responsible to ensure the deliverables are quality checked and documented.
• Responsible to manage the Highways discipline 3D model and review model quality.
• Responsible to work with the Information Manager and project teams to assist during Inter disciplinary checks and co-ordination with discipline leads.
• Maintain a high level of competency in all BIM software tools used at Atkins.
• Supervise and oversee design, modelling and detailing including production of BIM Models and extraction of contractual deliverables directly from the model to form 2D drawings, schedules, setting out, quantities and other agreed deliverables.
• Undertake self-checking and assist with technical checks of work undertaken by the team. Provide quality control for compliance to company/project standards of deliverables.
• Work with the Information Manager and project teams to assist in the development and implementation of BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans, workflows, and processes on projects in accordance with Atkins Corporate Standards, Client requirements and industry best practice.
• Interface with our project Manager / Discipline leads to understand scope and agree appropriate delivery approach.
• Collaborate with project team across disciplines to ensure design coordination and delivery to agreed scope.
• Chair and actively contribute to internal coordination sessions, clash resolution, design integration reviews and external presentations / reporting to LPO.
• Compliance with Quality, Safety, Environment, and governance procedures, thus ensuring work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.

Requirements :

• Basic experience, knowledge and skills pertaining to civil engineering, industry standards and application of the same with engineering judgement, guided by principles of Safety, buildability, sustainability, and BIM Principles.
• Understanding and knowledge of BIM Principles and how it differs from traditional ways of delivering engineering consultancy across capital investment and operational phases. Knowledge of all associated BIM concepts including, Level of Model definition, Information delivery plans, 4D Construction sequencing, 5D cost modelling, carbon foot-printing, virtual reality, machine learning and digital asset management.
• Possess a steep learning curve and ability to utilize just in time learning principles to rapidly acquire hands on ability in BIM Modelling, BIM / 3D Design Review, and coordination software.
• Should have worked on international projects such as UK, US, Middle East projects.
• Should have knowledge of CAD/BIM Standards and ISO 19650 Standards.
• Should have knowledge of Standard codes and Common Data Environment.
• Must be from a Civil / Highway Engineering background with Highway's domain experience.
• Must know BIM Softwares especially Civil 3D along with AutoCAD.
• Must know to Produce intelligent 3D models and extract information directly from the model to form 2D drawings, schedules, setting out, quantities and other deliverables.
• Should be experienced in Highway's alignment and corridor modelling.
• Should have minimum familiarity about utilities, drainage, signs, markings.
• Should be experienced of drawing production methods and principles.
• Should have good knowledge to handle the drawings in multi-D projects.
• Working knowledge of Bentley tools such as MicroStation and Open Roads Designer is added advantage.

Qualifications and attributes :

• Excellent skills in Highway drawings and models
• Excellent time management skills.
• Good command over and technical writing skills.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in leading projects independently from BIM front.
• 10 to 15 years of overall relevant experience in Highways.
• A Bachelor's degree or Diploma holder in Civil Engineering with sufficient and relevant experience.
• Flexible and engaging with resilience, drive and self-motivation.
• Ability to collaborate successfully within a project and team environment.
• Working knowledge of British Standards or any other international standards.
• Able to lead a team of junior CAD BIM staff.
• High performing ability to work and integrate into multi-disciplinary teams and work independently. Ensuring your work is to the highest appropriate standards and in compliance with Atkins quality systems and standards.
• Ability to exercise initiative, take ownership of project issues and work independently with excellent time management skills.
