About The Job
IORA Ecological Solutions is looking for dynamic, energetic Research Associate who are interested in the Carbon Project Development sector. As a Carbon Project Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing comprehensive PDDs for carbon projects, contributing to the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.In this role, you will conduct research, analyse project requirements, and collaborate with stakeholders to define emission reduction strategies and methodologies. Additionally, you will be able to engage in field surveys and visits to gather data and ensure compliance with international standards.

Responsibilities- - Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in carbon markets and international policies related to carbon emissions reductions
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project developers, technical experts, and finance professionals, to gather required information for Carbon project development
- Engage with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and investors, to gather input and address concerns
- Develop comprehensive Project Design Documents (PDDs)
- Communicate project objectives, methodologies, and outcomes to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to ensure effective stakeholder involvement throughout the PDD development process
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks, standards, and guidelines throughout the PDD writing process
- Conduct field surveys and visits to project sites to collect necessary data for PDD development and validation
- Monitor project activities on-site to ensure compliance with approved methodologies and best practices
- Coordination with VVB and third parties to ensure Validation and Verification of the project
- Support implementation of ongoing projects through:
- Research and analysis as per the project scope and activities
- Preparation of deliverables by developing reports, presentations, briefs, etc.
- Management of ongoing projects through stakeholder engagements and tracking timelines and deliverables
- Carrying out fieldwork for primary data collection and stakeholder engagement when needed
- Support in promoting and expanding IORA's portfolio by:
- Development of new concepts and proposals that capitalise on IORA's expertise and pave the way for new donor- and/or private sector-funded projects and programmes
- Developing communication products for wider dissemination and public outreach including policy briefs, journal articles, news pieces, project impact stories, blogs, etc.
- Master's degree in Forestry, environmental science or related fields with 1-2 years of relevant work experience
- Proven experience in developing Project Design Documents (PDDs) for carbon projects
- Experience conducting field surveys and visits for data collection and project assessment
- Familiarity with carbon market mechanisms and experience working with carbon standards such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), or Gold Standard
- Experience in collaborating with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and investors
- Familiarity with the validation and verification processes of the Carbon project is a plus
- Prior experience in the field of environmental sustainability, carbon management, or related areas would be beneficial.
- Field work experience will be preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong research and analytical skills. Willingness to solve research problems with creative thinking. Ability to read and synthesise quantitative and qualitative information quickly and succinctly. Ability to make coherent and strong written arguments advocating for policy outcomes and climate change solutions.
- Proficiency in proposal writing, technical report writing, project documentation and presentation skills. A credible publication record shall be an added advantage.
- Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with team members
