Battery Design Engineer - Bangalore
Job Description
Purpose of the role:
As a member of the Battery engineering team, the role of CAD Engineer will be to primarily
design and develop battery and inverter components, and the vehicle HV harness layout and
associated components. You may also be involved in packaging other electrical components
and modules. You will be responsible for your design areas from concept to production and
have the ability to dictate the direction and the commodity development process moves in.
Role Description:
3 to 6 years of experience preferably in the Li-ion battery or Automotive domain.
Have good knowledge on engineering materials - metals, plastics, and elastomers.
Have good knowledge on manufacturing process - Stamping, machining, forging, die-
casting, and injection molding.
Must be able to support in the development of test fixtures with concepts, CAD models,and drawings.
Actively designing and packaging of sheet metal, plastic, and casting components in 3D
CAD using NX CAD and CATIA whilst considering such items as HV safety, bend
radius, environmental factors, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, creepage and
clearances, insulation, etc.
Working with the wider engineering teams on component designs as required.
Translating the 3D design onto a 2D drawing.
Working with other engineers and suppliers to improve the wiring design and packaging
of their components where necessary.
Creating, maintaining, and updating best practice documentation and procedures.
Taking part in trial build activities and creating documentation to support assembly.
