Job Description

The Executive - Finance & Accounts (Payroll) is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for employees, including salary disbursements, statutory deductions, and compliance with relevant tax and labor laws. This position will involve working closely with the payroll lead and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and error-free payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing:

  • Ensure timely disbursement of salaries, allowances, variable pay, and leave encashment as per HR requests.
  • Process payments accurately and account for them in Tally ERP.
  • Prepare NEFT/RTGS transfers and cheques for fund transfers in an error-free and timely manner.
  • Manage full and final settlement of employee accounts.

Accounting & Compliance:

  • Maintain proper books of accounts on a daily, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to PF, ESIC, Ptax, TDS, GST, etc., and submit timely information for tax return filings.
  • Assist with income tax declarations and submission of investment proofs by employees.
  • Monitor payroll budget variances and headcount discrepancies.

Support & Liaison:

  • Coordinate with banks for payroll transactions and maintain good relationships with bank officials for effective banking operations.
  • Maintain accounting vouchers with supporting documents to facilitate audits and inspections.
  • Provide support to the finance team in closing pay-in-slips and assist with bank-related activities, such as cheque deposits and cash withdrawals.

Record Keeping & Audit:

  • Maintain organized and systematic records of all payroll-related documentation to ensure smooth audits by internal and donor agencies.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Education:

  • B.Com (Mandatory)

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Indian payroll processing, payroll assistance, or payroll management.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Tally, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and accounting.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Ability to liaise with bank officials, PF authorities, and other government agencies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain systematic records.
