Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented Senior Manager/General Manager to spearhead the growth and success of our IoT and Industrial Automation division. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with a proven track record of success in delivering impactful solutions within the industrial automation landscape, particularly within the oil and gas and retail fuelling industries.

This role demands a deep understanding of emerging technologies, a passion for innovation, and the ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Business Development:

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic roadmap for the IoT and Industrial Automation division, aligned with overall company objectives.

Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities within the target industries, focusing on high-growth segments and value-added solutions.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and proactively addressing their evolving needs.

Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities for differentiation.

Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for new products and services.
  • Team Leadership & Management:

Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, technicians, and project managers, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and empower team members to achieve their full potential.

Recruit, onboard, and develop top talent within the IoT and Industrial Automation division.

Drive continuous improvement within the team, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Project Management & Execution:

Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial client engagement and scoping to design, implementation, and ongoing support.

Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Effectively manage project risks and mitigate potential challenges proactively.

Leverage project management methodologies and tools to enhance efficiency and transparency.
  • Technical Expertise & Innovation:

Possess in-depth knowledge of core technologies, including IoT platforms, SCADA systems, PLC programming, industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP), and cybersecurity best practices.

Champion the adoption of advanced technologies such as predictive maintenance (using machine learning, AI, and data analytics), visual AI (computer vision, object detection, image processing), and edge computing.

Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, continually seeking opportunities to innovate and improve our service offerings.
  • Operational Excellence:

Manage departmental budgets, resources, and operational expenses effectively.

Drive continuous improvement in operational processes and efficiencies.

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, partners, and internal teams.

Effectively communicate project progress, address concerns, and resolve issues.

Represent GEMSL at industry events and conferences, enhancing our brand visibility and thought leadership.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering Management, Business Administration) is preferred.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in the IoT and industrial automation domain, with a strong focus on the oil and gas and retail fueling industries.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in a wide range of industrial automation technologies, including SCADA systems, PLC programming, industrial communication protocols, and cybersecurity.
  • Predictive Maintenance & Visual AI: Strong understanding of predictive maintenance concepts and technologies, including machine learning, AI, data analytics, and the application of visual AI in industrial settings.
  • Leadership & Management: Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with a focus on revenue growth, profitability, and market development.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the oil and gas and retail fueling industries, including their unique challenges, operational requirements, and regulatory landscape.
