Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Media Relations:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.
• Create and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other materials to garner positive media coverage.
• Act as the primary spokesperson for the University when dealing with the media.
• Monitor media coverage and prepare reports for senior leadership.

Public Relations Strategy:

• Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies that align with the University's goals and priorities.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the University's reputation and visibility through media and public engagement.
• Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and branding.

Crisis Communication:

Serve as a key member of the crisis communication team, providing

guidance and support during critical incidents.

Develop crisis communication plans and materials to effectively

manage and mitigate reputational risks.

Content Creation:

• Create compelling and informative content for press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media platforms.
• Work with graphic designers and multimedia specialists to produce visual and multimedia content.

Event Management:

• Coordinate and promote university events, including press conferences, campus tours, and public lectures.
• Manage media attendance and coverage for key events.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Cultivate positive relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, community organizations, and government agencies.
• Act as a liaison between GITAM University and external partners.

Analytics and Reporting:

• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of PR and media efforts.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations for improvement.

Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications, preferably in an educational institution or a related field.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Proven ability to handle sensitive and high-pressure situations with professionalism.

Familiarity with media monitoring and analytics tools.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
