Assistant Engineer - Track

Job Description

This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and analysis of railway track systems, including alignments, gradients, and cross-sections for UK Rail Projects.
• Support the preparation of engineering reports, drawings, and design calculations.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on various track engineering projects.
• Evaluate existing track conditions and recommend necessary maintenance or upgrades.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposals and budgets.
• Participate in project planning meetings and contribute to the development of project timelines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with construction teams and contractors during the implementation of track projects.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in railway engineering or track design is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with engineering design software and tools (e.g., Bentley Power Rail Track, Open Rail Designer, Clear Route 2, MicroStation).
• Basic understanding of railway track systems, construction methods, and materials.
• Understanding of Network Rail codes & Standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
