Responsibilities

The Principal Power Systems Engineer will work on the architecture & design of power management IC products which addresses a wide range of applications such as data center, enterprise, notebook and industrial. The engineer will participate in all stages of IC product development proposal, design, development, testing / validation and productization.
The candidate should possess a mix of technical expertise in power systems systems engineering, bench validation, silicon debug and analog IC design. Knowledge of power system architecture, buck-boost topologies, switching power converters, LDO architecture, validation of power management IC products, ESD, latchup is required.

Understanding of process technologies and device behavior which are important for high voltage operation and related reliability issues is advantageous.

  • Define and develop system architecture and specifications of power management IC products with emphasis on switching converters Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost based on marketing requirements. Deep involvement with Product specification by engaging with marketing team and customers.
  • Bridge between Marketing/applications and design teams for defining product specifications.
  • Perform system feasibility studies and build Simplis/Spice models to evaluate product performance prior to silicon release.
  • Define specification of blocks like Op Amps, Comparators, Schmitt Trigger, Voltage references, Current references, Bandgap references, High voltage Tx and Rx, Charge Pump, V2I etc... Actively involved during all stages of IC development including design closure.
  • Conduct, participate and close top level system reviews, and provide regular updates to key stakeholders through documentation and presentations.
  • Develop system test evaluation boards and test plans in accordance with industry standards for post-silicon product evaluation.
  • Own and drive post-silicon bench validation / measurements and system characterization in accordance with signed-off test plans.
  • Own and drive post-silicon debugs.
  • Wite and own technical documents such as FMEA reports, Datasheets etc.
  • Assist test, operations, validation and design teams during productization.
  • Work together with key stakeholders such as marketing, design, product / test engineering, validation, applications engineering for smooth execution of product definition, development, bring-up and productization.
  • Participate in hiring, candidate screening and interviewing activities to expand the team.
  • Guide / mentor new hires and junior engineers within the team.
Qualifications
  • BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in any of the following streams - Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Instrumentation.
  • 15+ years of System Engineering experience for Power Management IC products
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, digital multimeters, power supplies, single and differential probes, electronic loads, thermal streamer, dataloggers, network analyzers, EFT / ESD testing is desirable. Know how of validation automation using python or other industry standards.
  • Good experience in Cadence Allegro, Altium, Matlab, Simplis
