Compliance Manager - Bangalore
Role overview:
A Compliance Manager is a crucial role within organizations, ensuring that business practices align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. This role involves managing risk, monitoring compliance, and implementing policies and procedures to maintain ethical standards.
How you will create impact:
▪ Sanctions Screening Program Oversight:
- Manage the daily operations of the sanctions screening program, ensuring processes are compliant with applicable regulations.
- Oversee screening against customer, vendor, and transactional data to identify any sanctioned individuals, organizations, or entities.
- Ensure the team is capacitated with 24/7 coverage.
▪ Regulatory Compliance and Monitoring:
- Keep up to date with sanctions regulations and guidance from regulatory bodies (e.g., OFAC, EU, UN).
- Ensure sanctions screening processes align with regulatory updates and organizational risk appetite.
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits of the screening process to confirm adherence to regulations and internal policies.
▪ System Management and Improvement:
- Oversee and maintain screening tools, working closely with IT and third-party vendors to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Identify and implement improvements to screening algorithms, reducing false positives and enhancing detection capabilities.
- Collaborate with technology teams to troubleshoot system issues and improve system efficiencies.
▪ Team Leadership and Training:
- Lead and develop a team of compliance analysts responsible for sanctions screening.
- Provide training on sanction screening practices, regulatory updates, and internal policies.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and provide guidance on complex screening cases.
▪ Escalation and Reporting:
- Review and manage escalated cases, making determinations on potential sanctions violations.
- Prepare regular reports on sanctions screening activity, compliance metrics, and identified risks for senior management.
- Act as a point of contact for regulatory inquiries and audits related to sanctions compliance.
▪ Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Legal, Risk Management, and Internal Audit to assess and mitigate compliance risks.
- Work closely with the financial crime team to align sanctions screening with broader anti-money laundering (AML) initiatives.
Essential qualifications:
▪ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
▪ 9 to 13 years of professional experience in Compliance, Audit, or Forensic Investigations, preferably in the fintech or payment industry.
▪ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines consistently.
