Position Summary

The Clinicals Team

At athenahealth, we think healthcare providers deserve technology that lets them focus on what really matters: patient care. So we created it. Designed with input from our providers, our new, streamlined electronic health record (EHR) helps you document faster, easily meet quality program requirements, and removes distractions that get in the way of care.

Our athenaClinicals team builds code that matters, working on the beating heart of doctors workflows that is used by over 100,000 healthcare providers daily. We build the interface that makes the interactions between these providers and the electronic health record as seamless as possible, and elevates what the doctor needs to see, when they need to see it.

We are looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff to join our Clinicals team within our Bangalore R&D division. Your job will be to build products and services for Clinicals. Help us reach our goal of becoming the healthcare backbone by enhancing our cloud-based EHR solution and leveraging the network effect of 85,400+ providers.

Apply your technical skills towards allowing doctors to be doctors so that they are able to spend more time doing what they do best: provide patient care. But enough about us, let's talk about you.

You are an engineer with experience building full stack web applications, preferably in public and private cloud environments. You are an excellent communicator capable of quickly picking up the complicated healthcare domain. You are a tenacious yet nimble learner who demonstrates design and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Job Responsibilities
  • Write, debug, and deploy code to production deliver timely fixes
  • Adhere to DOD (story definition of done) as part of the sprint, including unit tests, functional testing, code reviews, bug fixes, and documentation.
Typical Qualifications
  • Ideally 3-8 years of progressive software development experience with significant product development expertise
  • Good at problem solving and Designing enterprise applications.
  • Expertise in Microservice design/development (Java, Spring framework) is required
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as code, CI, CD, and continuous monitoring etc.
  • Experience in building, deploying containerized applications on cloud platforms like Azure AKS or aws ECS/EKS
  • Familiarity Azure DevOps or Jenkins is ideal
  • Hands on experience in at least one relational database technology and NOSQL db.
  • Knowledge of data streaming services (Kafka) or aws kinesis
  • Familiar with logging, instrumentation, and monitoring (LMM) tools
  • Understanding of rules frameworks like JBoss drools or similar is plus.
  • Experience in big data frameworks like Apache spark is plus
  • Experience working with large existing codebase.
  • Added Advantage: Full stack development experience.
Contributions to the Team
  • Act as the subject matter expert for area of assignment
  • Take ownership of what the team builds after the release consider customer adoption as success criteria
  • Contribute to agile ceremonies to improve team performance
  • Volunteer for work in the backlog and commit to quality delivery Coordinate efforts across the team to ensure completion and effectiveness
  • Participate and contribute to scrum meetings i.e. daily stand-up, sprint planning, readouts and retrospectives
  • Drive self-organization help determine how the team functions in collaboration with your peers
  • Serve as Scrum Master if required as assigned and ensure high team effectiveness and efficiency
Mentorship of Others
  • Advise and train members of the team to maximize overall productivity and effectiveness of the team.
