Legal Counsel
The Legal Counsel job protects the organization's rights, obligations and privileges and its legal interests by providing expert legal advice in large projects and by ensuring the legal activities meet the current and future needs of the organization.As a subject matter legal expert and with limited oversight from manager, this job manages providing expert legal advice and counsel in business-related areas of expertise, such as corporate law, real estate, tax, business litigation, transactions/anti-trust, compliance, intellectual property, employment/labor, corporate governance, and ethics.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Advises management on hands-on legal advice, provides expert guidance and counsel and supports the operations of legal department.
- Assesses and evaluates the protecting of the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements, and litigation and recommends areas of improvement.
- Contributes to structuring and drafting of legal contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters.
- Identifies, evaluates, and addresses issues of legal risk.
- Researches, analyzes, and interprets proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations.
- Informs management of recent changes in laws and regulations that affect the company.
- Partners with external legal counsel on legal issues related to protecting the company and gaining external advice on matters that may impact the company.
- University (Degree) Preferred
