Overview:

The Platform Operations Engineering Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and operational efficiency of our platform. This role will oversee platform operations, implement automation, and drive best practices to enhance the reliability and performance of our infrastructure.

The manager will foster a culture of operational excellence, empowering product teams to build, deploy, and scale applications seamlessly while maintaining security and compliance.

This position requires a blend of strong technical expertise in platform engineering, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure, combined with strategic leadership skills to optimize resources and streamline operations. The Platform Operations Engineering Manager is essential in managing the platform backlog, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring the infrastructure supports business growth and innovation.

What You Will Do:

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Stability & Reliability:

  • Metric: Percentage of uptime for critical infrastructure systems.
  • Target: 99.9% or higher uptime for mission-critical systems.

Incident Response Time & Resolution:

  • Metric: Average time to acknowledge and resolve critical incidents.
  • Target: 15 minutes for acknowledgment, 1 hour for resolution (depending on severity).

Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR):

  • Metric: Average time taken to restore service after infrastructure failure.
  • Target: Less than 30 minutes for critical systems.

Capacity Utilization and Scalability:

  • Metric: Percentage of infrastructure resources (compute, storage) utilized versus total capacity.
  • Target: 70%-85% resource utilization.

Infrastructure Cost Efficiency:

  • Metric: Infrastructure cost per user, workload, or transaction.
  • Target: Achieve cost reductions through optimization efforts.

Automation & Process Efficiency:

  • Metric: Percentage of infrastructure management tasks automated.
  • Target: 80% of routine tasks automated.

Infrastructure Performance (Latency, Throughput, and Response Time):

  • Metric: Average latency, throughput, and response time for infrastructure services.
  • Target: Latency

Customer/Stakeholder Satisfaction:

  • Metric: Stakeholder satisfaction with infrastructure performance.
  • Target: 90%+ satisfaction rate.

Infrastructure Operations Management:

  • Oversee the design, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of infrastructure systems.
  • Manage infrastructure systems such as servers, storage, networking, cloud platforms, and virtualization technologies.
  • Ensure optimal performance, availability, and scalability of infrastructure systems.
  • Continuously assess infrastructure for improvements in cost, performance, and efficiency.

What You Will Have:

Required Experience:

  • Years of Experience: 10 to 13 years in infrastructure engineering, operations, or a related field.
  • Team Leadership: At least 2-3 years of experience managing infrastructure or operations engineering teams.
  • Cloud Platforms: Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and on-premises infrastructure management.
  • Virtualization & Containerization: Proficiency in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Automation & Monitoring Tools: Proven experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, and monitoring tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Security Practices: Experience implementing and maintaining infrastructure security practices and managing security incidents.
  • Technical Leadership: A background in infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud engineering with a passion for leadership and operational excellence.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align technical goals with business objectives, balancing innovation, cost-efficiency, and performance.
  • Good to have: SaaS/Product Experience: Previous experience in a SaaS/product environment and understanding of key SaaS & Engineering metrics (e.g., MRR, churn, lead time, MTTR, velocity).
