Job Overview
The ESG Risk and Control Manager will lead and coordinate various risk management and control activities across ESG, SOX compliance, and other assurance initiatives. This individual will ensure strong internal controls, governance, and reporting practices while collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the organization to drive risk mitigation strategies and enhance the company’s overall compliance and reporting landscape
Responsibilities and Duties- Lead the development and execution of assurance plans for ESG reporting and compliance initiatives, ensuring proper process and control documentation for accurate and reliable reporting.
- Drive the implementation of internal control frameworks for ESG, SOX and other regulatory compliance initiatives, in close collaboration with Brand Risk and Control functions, ensuring strong data governance and a robust control environment across business functions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ESG, Finance, Audit, and Risk & Controls, to assess operational and financial risks, implement corrective actions, and ensure proper testing of controls across ESG, SOX, and other initiatives.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external auditors to facilitate assurance activities, including control testing, deficiency assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., CSRD, SOX, ESG reporting standards).
- Develop and roll out cross-brand standards, guidelines, and best practices to improve internal controls, documentation, communication, and processes across ESG and SOX.
- Supports the BHI Risk and Controls team in preparation of key deliverables including & not limited to Executive Leadership & Audit Committee materials with minimal review and oversight required.
Required Knowledge
Professional Qualification (ACCA/CPA, CIA, CRMA would be highly desirable)
Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree
Years of Relevant Job Knowledge
Extensive knowledge (8-12 years)
Knowledge Skills & Abilities- Public Accounting (Big 4)
- Managing Sarbanes Oxley programs, process management and/or risk management involvement within a highly matrixed, complex industry.
- Working knowledge of and prior experience with ESG and non-financial reporting and disclosure practices and assurance and the relevant regulations and standards, including SEC, CSRD, and other relevant frameworks (mandatory and voluntary).
- Knowledge of IT and security controls is highly preferred.
- An interest for ESG and understanding of the key scientific, regulatory, and market developments related to ESG.
- Controls function, Enterprise Risk Management, or Internal Audit at a listed company
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to established timeframes
- Ability to assert and influence across all organizational levels
- Self-directed collaborator with risk mindset
- Detail and results-oriented
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Executive presence and ability to interact with Senior Leadership
- US GAAP and COSO Framework knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of SOX and risk-based auditing of various business processes.
- Strong analytical skills
