Senior Accountant
What You'll Do:
The Global Accounting team at Avalara is seeking an Accountant. Reporting to the Global Accounting Manager, you will participate in the month-end close for global operations and will be a critical part of the Global Accounting team based in India to support accounting functions across Avalara's global operations.They will be responsible for tasks such as reconciling accounts, preparing various journal entries and reports, researching variances, performing account analysis, maintaining accounting system data, and communicating with other teams. This individual is expected to generally work during UK hours (2 pm to 11 pm IST) and beyond that as needed.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- You will contribute to the month-end close process to prepare timely, accurate financial data that is in compliance with US GAAP and Avalara accounting policies.
- Accurately performing global account reconciliations, summarize activity, and resolve reconciling differences appropriately along with highlighting open and aged items.
- Perform accounting and control procedures related to a variety of areas, such as fixed assets, intangible assets, prepaid assets, and other areas, as necessary.
- Review financial statement fluctuations and prepare detailed supporting schedules.
- You will be preparing the requested audit documentation and analysis.
- Assist in fielding inquiries by researching and interpreting data, identifying risk and opportunities of the processes.
- Performing intercompany accounting for both foreign and domestic entities.
- Collaborate with different functional teams across the globe to standardize accounting processes/ policies and actively contribute to a disciplined financial statement close,
- You will be reporting to Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting
What You'll Need to be Successful:
- Chartered Accountant or MBA.
- Ideal background from SaaS industry
- You should have 4+ years of intermediate accounting experience
- Experience with accounting under US GAAP is must
- Experience with internal controls and SOX compliance
- Experience with NetSuite (preferred) or other large ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP.
- Highly proficient analyzing data in Microsoft Excel.
- Hands on knowledge in using Alteryx and PowerBI, or similar, and experience driving process automation
- Experience with Kyriba treasury management system, or similar.
