The Financial Systems team in the FinTech business unit provides technical expertise to the finance department and is responsible for supporting and innovating SAP ERP/S4HANA, SAP BI, Native HANA solutions, and many other connected external systems.We want to change the way people work with enterprise systems, by building an application platform that supports simplification of business processes and empowers the finance community with better integrations and financial insights.
The role of Senior Engineering Manager will be accountable for the Engineering Managers (direct reports) and teams in their scope. They will be required to direct all aspects of the engineering function within the direct reporting line, provide technical guidance and input and ensure sound engineering procedures are in place and consistent with the rest of Booking.com. Ensure that products and processes are introduced, designed, and re-designed in order to meet the organization's objectives whilst making effective and efficient use of the facilities available.Therefore all engineering activities are in accordance with organizational standards, direction, goals and ambition.
Alongside the Engineering Directors, this role will also be responsible for ensuring that the team performs to budget, that talent is identified and developed, any skills gaps are identified and key resources (including headcount) is identified and planned for in good time to ensure the success of the organisation's objectives.
What you’ll be doing:
Managing Teams- Is responsible to get things done in the right way by taking ownership, being proactive and collaborating with business counterparts, peers, other craft managers and stakeholders and guide more junior members of the team in this topic.

What you’ll bring:
- Technical subject matter expertise and thorough hands-on experience with 15–18 years in the delivery of SAP S/4 Hana as a core platform
- Experience in shaping and leading a software engineering function across multiple products or business areas (5+ years as a senior manager)
- Natural leader and communicator who is collaborative and builds great relationships.
- Experience of leading a team directly as well as through others
- A knack for connecting the dots and collaborating with various stakeholders to prioritize what maximizes business value
- Experience in the Fintech domain would definitely be an advantage.
- Interest in latest technology trends and open for innovations coming at any level of the team.
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven mindset.
- Strong SAP S4/HANA and SAP technologies design, architecture and business requirements gathering experience
- Technical expert in the SAP S4/HANA modules and its integration with non-SAP applications using latest technologies
- Proficiency in agile, dev-ops methodology, release management practices and tools in a complex SAP landscape
- SAP Development engineering background, ideally also in senior IC roles . Experience on the Order to Cash processes.
- Experience as leader of a product/Development engineering organization (3+ teams with managers)
- Strong stakeholder management abilities (is able to communicate with multiple, cross-functional stakeholders, able to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities. Ideally comes with organizational credit and a broad network at Booking.com)
- User focus (is able to identify and balance user needs and business needs; they show a passion to identify and solve user problems)
- Experience managing teams in an international environment (or in companies with a culture similar to that of B.com)
- A good knack for spotting talent & enabling the growth of people
- Experience building scalable & cost efficient product infrastructure
- Previous experience as a Lead engineer or development manager in large organizations
