The Principal Process Engineer, based in Thailand, reports to the Regional Manufacturing Manager. This role leads Chemical/Process engineering projects, ensuring compliance with HSE standards and optimizing assets to align with business strategy.Key duties include resource management, upskilling engineering talent, providing technical governance on Process Safety, Gas Safety and Environment matters across ASEAN region.
What You Will Do- Lead the overall development and implementation of Chemical/Process capital and engineering initiatives across ASEAN.
- Develop strategic business cases, ensuring that equipment and technology are fit for purpose and meet market requirements.
- Establish and maintain Engineering standards across all ASEAN projects.
- Continuously review and optimize the capital portfolio to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Drive the development of a robust engineering talent pipeline within the ASEAN region.
- Provide expert technical support on Process Safety issues and develop competencies in key risk management techniques, including HAZOP, FMEA, Bowtie, AS1375, Combustion Safety Systems, and SIF Systems.
- Ensure familiarity with BlueScope's engineering and safety standards, integrating them into regional projects.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Process / Chemical Engineering, with preferred focus on process controls, design, and manufacturing.
- Proven working experience in process design such as Process Flow Diagram, Process variable calculations, Flow calculations, Process Control, Instrumentation Design, Piping design/Plant 2 & 3D Modelling etc...
- Proven ability to design, analyse, and implement strategic upgrades in heavy industry manufacturing settings.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in driving effective change across a global, multicultural organization.
- Strong facilitation and coaching skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, capable of communicating technical and non-technical topics to audiences at all levels.
- Proficiency in English is required
- Desirable working experience in Process Equipment Design and Engineering of Equipment such as Galvanizing or Galvalume Pot/ Coaters/ Ovens/ Combustion Systems /RTO's & Incinerators / Chemical mixing systems / Heat Transfer system/etc.
- Desirable Experience in Steel Manufacturing process of Galvanizing Lines/ Color Paint Lines / Furnaces.
- Expertise with capital management framework.
