Function Overview

The GIC Supply Chain team manages end-to-end operations, encompassing planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and analytics. They strategically plan to meet market demands, optimize sourcing, ensure efficient production, and oversee the seamless movement of goods from production to delivery.

The team employs advanced analytics throughout these processes, fostering adaptability and operational excellence. This collaborative approach ensures a well-coordinated supply chain that aligns with both organizational goals and dynamic market conditions.

Purpose of the role

Responsibilities require the incumbent to possess functional expertise in manufacturing plant engineering along with customer relationship skills to virtually lead projects which assess, solve, and improve plant productivity and optimize manufacturing costs by leveraging Reliability, Controls and Systems Engineering.

The person needs to identify and develop new capabilities in the team and also should pursue for enhanced work scope in case of existing plant engagements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

40% of Time - Technical Problem Solving & Reliability Engineering:

  • Analyze cost and performance data to diagnose root causes of equipment failures and losses, proposing actionable solutions to improve system reliability.
  • Use Continuous Improvement tools (e.g., Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Loss Tree Analysis, and Why-Why Analysis) to identify and solve technical issues.
  • Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles to develop and optimize maintenance strategies aimed at improving equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Utilize Planned Maintenance strategies to ensure proactive management of equipment, reducing unplanned downtime and optimizing performance.
  • Leverage Predictive Maintenance techniques to monitor equipment health, predict potential failures, and schedule interventions before issues arise.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies utilizing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles, including spare parts management and lubrication systems.
  • Collaborate with plant and corporate teams to optimize equipment performance, reduce downtime, and enhance system efficiency.
  • Conduct Asset Life Cycle Analysis to evaluate the performance, cost, and risks of assets throughout their life span, guiding decisions on repair, replacement, and investment in new equipment
  • Drive Breakdown Elimination initiatives, targeting chronic and sporadic equipment failures.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain process improvements leveraging Operational Excellence principles and Process Engineering methodologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.

30% of Time - Data Analytics & Optimization:

  • Leverage data from systems like SAP, Maximo, and CMMS to perform analysis on spare parts, inventory, and sourcing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop optimization models for inventory management and sourcing spend analysis, ensuring effective cost control.
  • Use statistical analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, R) to conduct predictive analysis, trend identification, and reliability forecasting.
  • Automate data reporting and dashboards, improving operational visibility and decision-making capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for continuous performance improvement.

20% of Time - Platform and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead engagement with multiple plants, driving alignment on technical solutions and operational improvements.
  • Build expertise in the pet industry's processes and technologies, facilitating knowledge sharing across the platform.
  • Manage platform-wide improvement projects, ensuring successful implementation and timely execution.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define maintenance strategies and ensure seamless adoption across all plant locations.

10% of Time - Subject Matter Expert & Leadership:

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers and plant staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, ensuring clear communication of strategies and best practices across teams.
  • Actively contribute to safety, integrity, and operational excellence, leading by example and supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in reliability engineering, data analytics, and supply chain management.

10% of Time - Business Results & Performance Metrics (10%):

  • Support the implementation of corporate-wide improvement initiatives to achieve business goals and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to define project objectives, ensuring clear goals and optimal technical solutions.
  • Provide analytical support to enhance maintenance & reliability programs, focusing on reducing maintenance costs and increasing productivity.
  • Track and report on KPIs, implementing improvements based on insights derived from data analysis.

This position reports to the Engi neering Management group with the Supply Chain Division at GIC India.

In performing these accountabilities, the incumbent must develop and maintain an effective working relationship with General Mills international employees at all levels across the company locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering in anyone: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production, Electronics, Instrumentation.
  • Experience: Min 8 years (Preferred 10 years) of plant field experience in Maintenance & Reliability Improvement, Inventory Management, and Data Driven Analytics.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in Reliability (CRE, CMRP), PMP, Six Sigma, or similar disciplines are preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Maintenance & Inventory management systems (SAP, Maximo, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in Continuous Improvement methodologies and TPM.
  • Expertise in data analytics tools (Excel, VBA, SQL, R, Python, Power BI/Tableau).
  • Experience in statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Analytics Experience - Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive and Prescriptive
  • Working knowledge in mechanical maintenance of processing, mixing, and packaging equipment's.
  • Hands on experience in implementing FMEA's, RCM, troubleshooting measures, Breakdown/WPF root cause analysis and Engineering spares management.
  • Hands on experience Capital Projects Various Phases, Early Equipment Management, Plant/Operations Continuous Improvement, and Maintenance Program development.
  • Strong understanding of Inventory Management/Maintenance & Reliability/Manufacturing/Sourcing/Supply Chain

Additional Information
  • This position reports to the Engineering Management with the Supply Chain Division. Hours of operation are 11 AM to 8 PM Mumbai time (Monday to Friday) with the ability to flex hours as the job demands.
